Let’s Get Auditioning…

  • Song Selection

Selecting the right song for your audition is crucial to showcasing your vocal abilities and making a lasting impression. Choose a piece that highlights your vocal range, emotional expression, and fits the style of the show. It’s often beneficial to pick a song you feel confident and comfortable performing. Remember to practice thoroughly and consider how you can bring your unique personality and interpretation to the piece. Good luck, and we can't wait to hear you sing!

  • Script Reading Tips

Cold reading can be a daunting part of auditions, but with a few tips, you can excel. First, stay calm and focused, taking a moment to understand the context and emotions of the scene. Pay attention to punctuation and stage directions, as they offer valuable clues about the character. Project confidence and make bold choices, even if you haven't had much time to prepare. Remember, directors are looking for your potential and how well you can take direction. Practice regularly to improve your cold reading skills, and most importantly, have fun and let your natural talent shine through!

  • Preparation Ideas

Preparing for an audition is essential for making a strong impression. Start by carefully reading the audition notice and choosing material that highlights your strengths. Practice your monologue or song extensively and consider getting feedback from trusted friends or coaches. Research the show and the characters to better understand the context. On audition day, bring a few copies of your resume and headshot, any required sheet music in a binder, and a bottle of water. Dress in comfortable, audition-appropriate attire that suggests the character without being a full costume. Arrive early to give yourself time to relax and focus before you perform. Break a leg!
